Final Blog March 2022

The first thing I thought that was important is to not trust all of the media. We did media in semester 1 and a little bit in semester 2. In the class, we talked about what was happening in Gaza. Out of the class we talked about Gaza, there was a class where we search different news sites. I was shocked because when I searched a few of the sites, there were sites that were writing completely different things in it. One is the right information, and the other is writing the wrong information. After I saw this, I thought I can't trust the media all the time. Every day, I check the news using my phone and also TV. I am hoping that the site I am looking at is trustable, but I have no chance of knowing it is not true unless I research specifically about that. So I was a bit interested in how to know if the site is telling the truth. Also, there are sites that are biased. For biased, we did this a little bit in semester 2. I think if the site is biased, there is no way of knowing the truth because the writer is deciding who is good and who is bad. Of course, some sites are trustable, for example, they have a video of what is happening. Other than that, I thought it is difficult to see through if it is trustable or not.

The second thing I thought that was important was to think about every single person's right. In semester 2, I had a class about paying money for firefighting, police, and health care. In some countries, people don't need to pay for all 3. However, some countries need to pay for health care like Japan. I was shocked when I knew this because, until the class, I didn't care about paying money for my health because I was thinking that was something obvious, but after the class, I was interested in why we need to pay for our health when we don't need to pay for firefighting and police.  I personally think being healthy is what we all have as a right because if we have to pay for health care, the people who are poor, are not able to have health care. Even if they are poor, they still have the right to live, which means they have the right to health care.

The third thing I thought was important is to not overthink. In semester 3, we did a marshmallow challenge. I was shocked after we finished, we were allowed to ask for more materials and also to search on the internet to find a good way of building. At any rate, I was taught that it is important to say what you think without thinking about anything else. Especially when I was working on the challenge, I wondered, "Is this the right thing to do?" and then I would conclude on my own that this was a bad idea. I thought if I had said it here, the result might have been something different. However, even though I thought this was important, sometimes this is not appropriate. So we need to judge when is the time to not overthink. For example, if I want to come up with a good idea, there will be more good ideas if I don't overthink. If I overthink, I will become more heard-headed and not able to think anything. So I thought from now on, not overthinking is important.
