May 20th

In the start of the lesson, we had to get together as a group which was chosen at the end of the last lesson in class. We talked about different things and one of them that I thought was interesting was the interview to the secondary school teacher asking about the percentages of teachers letting students use electronic things because when other countries let the students use laptops and others, Japan has the lowest percentages of secondary school teachers letting students using laptops, phones, and more in school. Mr. Paterson showed us one example in ICU where the students use only paper for everything, so when they hand in long essays, they have a box that said their names and put it in there. When the teachers check it, they take it out of that boxes and after checking, they find each person's boxes and put it back. I thought this was really tiring so instead, they should use a laptop so that the students are easier to write, and it will be easier for the teachers to check it.

Then we went outside to find problems. We pretended that we came to this school for the first time and had a meeting. However, it was the first time so we didn't know where to go and this was one of the problems. Then the second problem is that when we don't know were to go, we will find a map, but the map is hidden with trees so we couldn't see it. Some other problems are that when we try to find people to ask, we didn't know where to go because there isn't any place that said reception. Then we tried finding the biggest door because if we go to a school we never went, we will think that there should be a place where there are people, but no one was there. I thought these problems need to be solved because if people who really don't know about this school, they won't know where to go when they really need to.

5 minutes before the class ends, we started talking as a group about problems in schools. We have already listed some things at home so we had some ideas, but we added about 3-4 ideas we found today. For example, no signs(map), more space to relax in the library, and so on.
